Foster pulled out of an offer to be head coach of the Northern Mystics, after Yvonne Willering was sacked from the position. Instead, she signed up as assistant coach of the Southern Steel in the ANZ Championship for the 2009 and 2010 seasons, signing a two-year contract based in Invercargill. She also previously coached the New Zealand A squad.
