Wink Please read before posting - please check out the rules and what not to post

    Hi Guys :)

Because of some things that have gone on lately (and no its not directed at one person there are have been several cases in the last week) unfortunatly the moderators have decided to bring in some new rules.

Firstly, there is nothing wrong with a good debate, its part of the contest community, but lately some people have been directly picking on or targeting other members. We try to be friendly and contest generally has a good vibe so this will no longer be tolerated.

If you do have a problem with a post, or someone in particular, contact a moderator you feel comfortable with or use the "report" function in the bottom left hand corner to a post. When you use the report function an email gets sent to all moderators, they can then decide together the cause of action in the Moderator social group.

Please let us know if anyone picks on you

This may result in a PM from a mod to get both sides of the story, a formal warning of a member, a stand down period or the member being banned.

Contest has a good vibe and we want to keep it that way.

    Happy comping

and the next set of rules

The first rule of Contest is there are no rules

The second rule of Contest is THERE ARE NO RULES.

    Rule number 3:
No slagging off, fighting or moaning, unless written permission given by moderators. Expressly no slagging off a moderator or you will sit on the naughty step. Please take the time now to check who your nearest moderator is. In the event of slagging off a moderator, emergency lighting will guide you to the naughty step.

NOTE:...By moaning we mean about other members on this site - as in being a meany

    - moaning about general life and stuff is ok

    Rule number 4:
The moderators reserve the right to put you on the naughty step if you're being annoying. The moderators reserve the right to define the term 'annoying'.

    Rule number 5:
The moderators reserve the right to ban you for no apparent reason. Should you wish to have membership reinstated, this will occur when they can be bothered.

Please keep reading below to check out what sites don't like us to post their comps - or their codes and that kind of stuff

Nice guy from Net Guide has said we can post Net Guide competitions, but please refrain from posting the codes from their magazine.

Got an email (very nice one) asking if we can not put Homestyle Magazine competition codes and online surveys on here.

Please do not post Rialto competitions on this site otherwise the intelligent marketeers at Rialto will take legal action against Contest.co.nz. - Don't get your knickers in a twist Rialto :p

Failure to adhere to these warnings will result in you being severely spanked

Just a request from the nice people at Parkside Media that we refrain from posting the answers on the forum

It's really cool that Parkside Media themselves come on here to post the competitions as soon as they're made available... so we need to respect their wishes in order for the comps to serve the appropriate purpose for both them and us.

Infact we don't even need to put the Parkside Media comps up - the lovely people at Parkside Media will upload the comps as separate threads.

Sometimes we have to wait a day to get approval or things in place, and occasionally (like what's happened here) a comp goes out with an error, which has since been corrected. So usually it's best if we load them all separately and we're quite happy to do that.

    Thanks
    Parkside Media web team

Nice guy from Mitre 10 - cool to post comps but please don't post answers

    Please don't post kidsfashionreview.co.nz competitions

    **New ones added...

At the moment, the list is:
    Netguide: please don't post codes
Homestyle magazine: please don't post codes or online surveys
Rialto: please do not post competitons/answers/anything really
    kidsfashionreview.co.nz please don't post competitions
Sunday Star Times - please don't post competitions
Good magazine competitions - please do NOT post the answers **new

fairfax competitions - Sunday News, TV Guide, Dominion Post, Press or competitions from any other fairfax publication that is for sale (free competitions from their websites and stuff are ok) - other publications by them not to post are: The Fairfax Magazines' titles are:
    New Zealand Autocar
    Boating New Zealand
    New Zealand Fishing News
    Growing Today
    New Zealand Horse & Pony
    New Zealand Trucking
    The Cut
    Avenues
    Cuisine
    New Zealand Gardener
    NZ House & Garden
    TV Guide
    NZ Life & Leisure
    World

Mitre 10: please don't post answers

self-help.co.nz: - Kay from Self Help very kindly posts all these for us - Thanks Kay

Parkside Media comps: please don't post answers - and actually they will post up comps as they come available - Thanks Parkside Media

Sorry guys - not too much more to read - one more thing

    Duplicates - Searching

    Hi Guys

Just want to let you now we all appreciate everyones posts - I love entering competitions ( as I'm sure you all do too ) so it's great that everyone shares and this is what this site is all about

Added bit here *** Just been reminded of a very important point in regards to searching - when people are posting if they can try and put both the website name (or magazine name, or paper name or whatever) and prize name in the 'Title'. The search function should usually pick it upthen

    So for example:
    Mitre 10 - Win a Lawnmower.

I have had a private message asking that I just let everyone know about the search function on this site - although I must admit it doesn't always find a post that has already been listed - but for the new people out there it can sometimes be a good idea to just have a quick search through the posts to see if the competition has already been listed, as otherwise people might end up entering the same comp twice.

So say if I was going to list a comp to win a Berlei Bra, I might put in the search Berlei, and then check the competitions that come up - as often there can be more than one competition to win a Berlei Bra - actually is that even a type of bra? I don't know, but anyway I'm sure you get the point :p

Otherwise another way that can work is to just skim through the titles of the last few pages of comps to see if your one is listed.

I will try and keep an eye out too and take out any duplicate posts that I see. But I must admit I probably do some too :001_smile:

So anyway, don't let this put you off posting - just try the search quickly first, otherwise just post it anyway and i'll delete it if it's one that I know is a duplicate.

Don't worry we won't post rude replies to you or anything if you post a duplicate comp, we are all nice here and we appreciate your contributions - And - 2 posts are better than no posts -don't worry if we find aduplicate post we will delete it or add it to the original

Hope I made a bit of sense there :p Welcome to the site for all you new people, and glad your still here to all the old people :p

Hope you all win loads of cool stuff

The moderators all have black names. If something happens online just have a look at the online members and see what mods are on. Or use report function and all mods get an email.

In saying that there are soooooooo few incidences that you probably wont need us lol. Just been a couple recently but they effect very few people :)

I just wanted to say as well that 99.9% of the people on the site are lovely, great, friendly, so if you're worried, don't be - chances are you fall into the 99.9%. We wanted to have some rules in place for the 0.01% of compers who like to have a sneaky dig...

Actually, as a site, we've done incredibly well to keep the trolls at bay but recently .... dawg ...

I don't know man, I'm not feeling it. What do you think, Simon?
