Hi Amandajane. I know Oprah raves about it so have thought about giving it a crack as well. But I also heard other things about it, like it's some weird cult and Oprah is the leader

Well the secret has worked well enough for us.

Oprah has the Ekhart book as part of her live podcast series, where you can connect and speak through Skype.

Now Skype is something great too. Called relatives overseas, talked for hours. Live webcam, and it's free. That alone is worth shouting hallelujah!

Google Skype to find out more. Fairly simple if you have broadband. Just need a microphone and webcam.

I've checked out a couple of pages of google results (mine loads at 100 results per page) for that and most of them seem to be pointing to this article on fox tv

Anyhow, I'm reading the power of now and I'm getting a lot from it. It seems to point to CBT and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy approach.

Also he seems to have genuine humility.

I think you'd have to read it yourself to get perspective of what he's saying.

I've been listening to Anthony Robbins who's a motivational speaker. He was in Shallow Hal . Love that film.

He has said heaps of things which have really changed my way of thinking. I think you either connect or don't connect with something. I read Rich Dad, Poor Dad and took quite a lot away from that. Then I read the Secret and found it was about 200 pages of philosophers telling me what I already knew (i.e. cheer up and ye shall receive your prizes).

The Power Of Now by Eckhart Tolle - is an interesting read. I must admit that I only got about half way through and then skipped to the CDs, which were great when I was driving about in the car. The concepts keep popping up in other philosophy books so he must be onto something .

Oprah's next big thing is Eat, Pray, Love. Has anyone read that?

Hawky - the secret isnt just about cheer up feel better - its not just positive thinking theres more to it I think anyhowoos. It has worked for me in many ways including comps, but each to there own.

I read an article in one of the womans mags about Oprah and the cult thing. Hehehe if Oprah actually started a cult I think it would have a lot of members!

I read the Secret cover to cover and it worked for about three days, mainly with the carpark visualisation. But then I got fed up of secreting and am now focusing on happily achieving, as per Tony Robbins school of thought - he says the happier you are, the more you get done. True....I did vacuum the carpets this morning whilst thinking my happy thoughts.
